How can I generate a C14x14 datamatrix barcode?

I have a request to generate a barcode that is Datmatrix Format C14x14 with module size(inches) 0.04. How I can do this with the IDAutomationDataMatrixEncoderDMSet function in Crystal Reports?

Try setting the Format Number to 3,4, or 5. Fourteen will generate a large barcode capable of holding quite a few characters.

With that said, twenty characters may not fit into a 14x14 Preferred Format--this is even when normal data compression is taken into consideration.

Consider some of the other format options.

NOTE: Because IDAutomation products do not use compression, it is possible that even a 16x16 may not hold 20 characters.

Additional Note: The Format Number that you see in the chart is slightly different than the UFL because 0 in the UFL is actually Auto, 1 is 10x10, and 2 is 12x12,...

How much data are you attempting to encode? Can you provide the sample data?

Hi Ben,

The code looks the same, but when I set the PrefFormat to 14 the barcode gets very big.

if you have purchased it, it will depend on when you purchased it. If you would like to contact me privately with your order number, I can look it up and find out which version you are using.

Both versions still have the Set and Get but the latest version is based on our .NET encoder.

Does your version appear similar to this screenshot? If so, then you are working with the latest version and can set Preferred Format by modifying the PrefFormat property.

Hi Ben,

Thanks for the information.

So if I have bought the Datamatrix font where I can download the updated version of the UFL and how using I can achieve the requirement in Crystal Reports?

Best Regards,
Peter

The Data Matrix Font and Encoder version that uses IDAutomationDataMatrixEncoderDMSet is no longer supported. We have released an updated version of the UFL included with the package.

Data Matrix Release Log

With that said, if you are using the old version, there should be a list of parameters. It should be the very last parameter (DataToEncode As String, ProcessTilde, EncodingMode, PreferredFormat) named PreferredFormat.

The Preferred Format list uses data compression--IDAutomation products do not use compression. This means that setting the C14x14 Preferred Format using our products may not actually fit into a 14x14 format. If this is the case, the barcode may be generated larger.
