Encoding Keystrokes in a Barcode for Excel


We have an Excel spreadsheet that we are using to enter part numbers and locations.

I have programmed our Symbol scanner to tab over when a barcode is scanned. The user then scans the location and then the part number. This puts them both on the same row and the next location goes on the next row.

I am hoping there is a way to scan a third barcode that would move the Excel cursor down to the beginning of the next row, instead of the user having to reach over to the keyboard after each location is done.

It is not much of a motion but there are 10,000 locations to scan.

What do you recommend?

General Process:
• Find what key(s) would have the desired effect in Excel.
• If possible, find the corresponding decimal ASCII Table value.
• Encode the value(s) in the respective barcode.
