#Value! Error in Excel Barcode Generator

We are using the Native Barcode Generator for Microsoft Excel. I put this formula in Excel and get a #Value! error and it doesn't show the barcode in the cell. The formula is =IDAutomation_NXLS_DataMatrix($K$2,1)
Admin note: this error may also occur when using VBA Font Encoders in Excel with Barcode Fonts.

Operating System: Office 365

Application: Excel

#VALUE is Excel's way of saying, "There's something wrong with your formula or the cells you are referencing." This Excel error usually occurs because of one of the following reasons:
1. Text is used in Mathematical Operations
2. Cell contains hidden spaces or control characters
3. A date is stored as text

Try this:

1.
Access the Trust Settings and make sure VBA macros are allowed to run.

2.
Select the cell with the #VALUE! error and then choose Formulas > Evaluate Formula > Evaluate. Excel will step through the parts of the formula individually.

3.
Replace the cells with static data, for example,
=IDAutomation_NXLS_DataMatrix("123456789012")
and use a process of elimination to find the solution.

4.
Make sure you are passing only text to the barcode function. In Excel, if you add a string to a number you will receive the #VALUE error. Excel also treats the space character as a string and returns a value error if added to a number.
