Random Unexpected Data


We have barcodes that are being fed by a database and get a few hundred per batch (out of tens of thousands) with unexpected results.

I know it is a very general question, but have you any experience with this?

Operating System: Windows, Mac, Linux, and Unix

This happens because of extra spacing in the database (or data source) feeding the reporting interface, which is due to entry or transmission errors when the database (or data source) was created.

In general, it should be possible to use a built-in TRIM function (might be named something else, consult the user manual) found in the report interface's built-in functions. This function will remove the extra spaces before and after the data string.

It is also recommended (if unwanted data is occurring in the database or data source) to implement further filtering logic before passing data to be encoded into a barcode.
