I am getting java exception when calling java method

Update - I did more testing and found if I change the Compaction Mode to TEXT it works fine.
So now my question is:
Why would Compaction Mode NUMERIC cause the error below when the data to be barcoded = 1199647

We have been using your Java solution on our AS/400 (RPG) to print PDF417 barcodes for a while and it has been working great
Today we are getting the following Java exception:

received Java exception "java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException:" when
calling method "fontEncode" with signature
"(Ljava.lang.String;)Ljava.lang.String;" in class
"IDAutomationPDFE.PDF417Encoder".
Recovery . . . : Contact the person responsible for program maintenance to
determine the cause of the problem.

Steps to error:
1) putenv('CLASSPATH=/DRV/JAVA:/DRV/JAVA/IDAutomationPDFE');

2) strInitDta = new_String(' ');

3) W$Env_p = getJniEnv();
freeLocalRef(W$Env_p:strInitDta);

4) beginObjGroup(W$Env_p);

5) strDta = new_String(W$InPutDta);
(inputdta is 1199647)

6) EnCoder = new_EnCdr();

7) sDtaToEncde(EnCoder:strDta);

8) columns(EnCoder:W$ColumnsN);
(columns is 5)

9) rows(EnCoder:W$RowsN);
(rows is 7)

10) eCLevel(EnCoder:W$ECLevelN);
(eclevel is 2)

11) mode(EnCoder:W$ModeN);
(Mode is 2)

12) sTruncated(EnCoder:W$BolnIndc);
(bolnlndc is 0)

13) rtnSetDta = gDtaToEncde(EnCoder);
(encoder is 44)
rtnStr = fontEncode(EnCoder:rtnSetDta);
(rtnsetDta is 50)

Java exception:

Ben	Best Answer PDFMode options should only include 0 (for Binary) and 1 (for Text). I believe the Numeric Mode should have been removed--this is what is causing the issue. To continue on, you will need to use Binary or Text encoding. This should resolve the problem. PDFMode = 0; or PDFMode = 1; Posted 11.4 year(s) ago (0) (0) Report Abuse
