Does Code 128 C only encode numbers?


I have created a field in crystal with this formula IDAutomation_Code128C({MOS.MOS_IMKEY}). This is a text field. When I scan the barcode all the text seems to be missing for example "JOB02770" scans as "02770". The font is set to IDAutomationC128XL.

The reason this happens is that the Code128C function is being used. Code 128 C is a numeric-only character set and removes any non-numeric characters. It also adds a zero to the beginning of the data if an odd number of characters is encoded. This is by design to conform to the Code 128 C standard.
I recommend using the IDAutomation_Code128 function instead. This encodes both letters and numbers and also switches between character sets as needed.
