License type BC 25 multiple installations

Hi,

My colleague previously asked a similar question here: https://support.idautomation.com/General-License-Questions/Licensetype-for-Microsoft-BC-25/_4049, but I wasn’t able to find a clear answer, so I’m submitting a new inquiry.

We are trying to understand the licensing structure and associated costs.
We have five separate installations, each serving between 200 and 600 users — approximately 2,000 users in total. In addition, we may require:
- A developer license for the development supplier
- A developer license for the customer

At the moment, the licensing model is a bit unclear to me. Could you please help clarify the following:
- Is a license required per server or per service tier?
- What licenses are needed for the five installations - is it dependent on the number of server/service tiers?
- What would the total cost be for all necessary licenses?

Hello Esben,

IDAutomation licensing is not based on the number of installations, number of servers, or number of barcodes that you wish to generate, but rather on the number of Developers that will be working with the software, the number of downstream users, and the installation application environment for each barcode type. The minimum licensing for Microsoft Dynamics is a 1 Developer license that covers one developer working with the software and up to 10,000 downstream users across multiple physical locations. Developer licensing also covers the distribution of the IDAutomation software to your customers. With the 2 Developers you have listed and the number of users, this would require a 2-5 Developer license for each barcode type you wish to generate.

If you wish to see pricing, you can go to the Barcode Fonts page and then click each barcode type you wish to generate. Then pull the drop-down menu for the licensing and choose a 2-5 Developer license for that barcode type.

It may also help you to review the licensing matrix for barcode fonts here: License Summary for Barcode Fonts, which goes over how many Developers are covered for each Developer licensing level and how many downstream users are covered.
