Where do I get the data (numbers or characters) to create the barcode?

I want to purchase your barcode product. Can you give me the data I need to create the barcode?

IDAutomation does not provide data to generate barcode; we just supply the barcode fonts, barcode components, and barcode applications to generate the barcodes.

Different industries will have different requirements for the data that is required to generate the barcode. For example, the United States Postal Service is responsible for assigning the data used to generate Intelligent Mail Barcodes.

In many cases, the data will come from the information that you want to convert into the barcode. For example, not too long ago, I dealt with a customer that wanted to place barcodes on boxes to identify products in his warehouse. He used the part numbers for each product as his data to generate the barcode.

If you are working with a symbology that has specific requirements such as Intelligent Mail, UPC, or GS1-128, run a Google search for the type of data required or contact the organization that assigns the data.

NOTES:

If unsure about the data required for UPC, EAN, or Databar, please contact GS1.org.

If unsure about the data required for IMpb, Intelligent Mail Container Code, or Intelligent Mail Barcode, please contact the USPS.
