Can Aztec use Error Correction Level?


When I try to use Aztec 2D barcode (specifically Java 2D Component), it seems that Error Correction Level (ECL) 98 and 99 doesn't work. If I select ECL to 98 or 99, nothing is produced. Please let me know if this is a bug in the software. If it is, please fix it right away.

A 99 ECL is not completely useful if the recommended amount of data is not equivalent to the maximum amount of data listed in the specification-- this is partially due to many scanners having data limits of less than 1200 characters. A more appropriate value is 800 characters (the recommended limit for 2D barcodes). A 99 ECL level does not help a damaged 200-character barcode perform better than an ECL level set to 25. I understand that you are responsible for evaluating functionality to get the most use out of each product. However, in this case, the ECL feature when set beyond 23 is not significant.
