Resolved Questions

We tested the linear barcode 39 and found the product appends an extra character at the end of the barcode.

We bought the Java 2D Barcode product. We tested the linear barcode 39 and found the product appends an extra character at the end of the barcode.

Yes, the check character property is set to true by default which calculates an extra character and appends it to the data. In the case of Code 39, this is a MOD 43 check character.
Since this is optional for code 39 this can be set to false.

Also, it is not necessary to include start and stop characters in the data or to use the CODABAR properties. Any necessary start and stop characters will be included automatically in the resulting barcode, and the CODABAR properties will only affect the CODABAR barcode type.

For example:
public static void main ( String [] args )
{

//Get the data to encode in barcode
String message = new String ("ABCDEF111");
BarCode bc=new BarCode();

// set the data to encode
bc.code=message;
bc.barType=0;
bc.checkCharacter=false;

// create the file as the name of the message
barCodeEncoder bce = new barCodeEncoder(bc, "JPEG", "T:appbarcodeBCtestcode39.jpeg");
System.exit(0);
}
