Resolved Questions

Need barcode text and barcode to display different information using Barcode Label Software

I would like my barcode text to be visible as 12345 but I would like the barcode scanner to read X12345, where X is my data identifier prefix.

Could you please explain how I enter the X in the barcode without it being visibly seen in the text below the barcode?

Operating System: Windows

Application: IDAutomation Barcode Label Software

Best Answer

Product: Barcode Label Software

Reference: Barcode Label Software Manual & Tutorial

Goal: To prefix the X in the barcode and not show it in the human-readable (HR) text below the barcode.

Recommendation: To use a separate text field beneath the barcode, setting the barcode’s properties to ‘No Text’ (Right click > Text tab).

Process:

I. View of example external data used (Tools > Data Sets > Manage Data Sets):

II. Barcode Object:

Set value (Right-click object > Properties > Value tab) and prefix an X character to the barcode data Field1:

The X is now prefixed in the barcode.

III. Text Object:

Set value (Right-click object > Properties > Value tab) to the barcode data Field1 (no prefix):

IV. Label Result:
