Red Top on Barcode Label Software

We upgraded to the Barcode Label Software (2015) on Windows (ranging from XP, Server, 7 and 8+), but only our Windows 7 computers show a ‘red top’:

Could you advise us on what to do?

Operating System: Windows XP - 8+

Application: IDAutomation Barcode Label Software

As of the August 2015 update, this issue has been resolved, please download the most recent version of the software.

Update your Priority and Upgrade Subscription for the most recent version:

Barcode Label Software (IDA71)
Barcode Label Software Pro (IDA74)

We apologize for any inconvenience.

The Barcode Label Software is dependent on the .Net Framework. For this resolution, we suggest having a version based on CLR 2, which includes various versions of:

• .Net 2
• .Net 3.5

1. Once one of the above versions is installed, make sure the Barcode Label Software is closed.

2. As an Administrator (right-click > 'Run as administrator'), open a text editor (such as Notepad) and navigate to the exe.config file, typically found in the following folder path:

<install drive>: Program Files (x86) <name of IDAutomation.com Barcode Label Software version>

3. Once open the file will look like this:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
<configuration>
<startup>
<supportedRuntime version="v4.0" sku=".NETFramework,Version=v4.5" />
<supportedRuntime version="v4.0.30319"/>
<supportedRuntime version="v2.0.50727"/>
</startup>
</configuration>

4. Between <startup> and </startup>, remove the lines:

<supportedRuntime version="v4.0" sku=".NETFramework,Version=v4.5" />
<supportedRuntime version="v4.0.30319"/>

5. The file will now look like this:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
<configuration>
<startup>
<supportedRuntime version="v2.0.50727"/>
</startup>
</configuration>

6. Save the file and start the Barcode Label Software. It should now show correctly.
