Barcode shrinks when saving to a PDF in Crystal Reports

We use Crystal Reports XI R1 and the barcode shrinks when we export the document to a PDF file. How do we resolve this?

The following information was copied from Crystal's Website (SAP Note 1220516)

Font size decreases when report is exported to PDF from Crystal Reports XI or Crystal Reports XI Release 2

SYMPTOMS

In Crystal Reports XI and Crystal Reports XI Release 2 the font shrinks by approximately 10% when a report is exported to Adobe Acrobat Format (PDF).

RESOLUTION

(Caution: The following resolution involves editing the registry. Using the Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall the Microsoft Windows operating system. Use the Registry Editor at your own risk. It is strongly recommended that you make a backup copy of the registry files before you edit the registry. For information on how to edit the registry key, view the “Changing Keys and Values” online Help topic in the Registry Editor (Regedit.exe).

To solve the behavior

1. Set the resolution of the default printer of the local computer experiencing the issue to 1200 DPI. Most printers have a default setting of 600 DPI.

2. Create two registry keys to prevent the crxf_pdf.dll from decreasing in font size.

3. Click Start --> Run. Type "regedit". The Registry Editor appears.

4. Create the following keys for Crystal Reports XI with the defined values:

HKCRSoftwareBusiness ObjectsSuite 11.0Crystal ReportsExportPDFForceLargerFonts
Type: DWORD
Recognized Values: 0,1
Default Value: 1
Creation Method: manual

HKLMSoftwareBusiness ObjectsSuite 11.0Crystal ReportsExportPDFForceLargerFonts
Type: DWORD
Recognized Values: 0,1
Default Value: 1
Creation Method: manual

5. Set both registry key values to 1 to turn them on.

6. Create the following keys for Crystal Reports XI Release 2 with the defined values:

HKCRSoftwareBusiness ObjectsSuite 11.5Crystal ReportsExportPDFForceLargerFonts
Type: DWORD
Recognized Values: 0,1
Default Value: 1
Creation Method: manual

HKLMSoftwareBusiness ObjectsSuite 11.5Crystal ReportsExportPDFForceLargerFonts
Type: DWORD
Recognized Values: 0,1
Default Value: 1
Creation Method: manual

7. Set both registry key values to 1 to turn them on.

8. Restart the Crystal Reports Page, Job and Cache Servers
