Assembly Encoder with Report Builder

Note: A new product (SSRS Native Barcode Generator) has been released since this post was resolved that offers an easier method of generating barcodes in SSRS without fonts or other components.

Is it possible to use the .Net Font Encoder Assembly with Report Builder instead of Visual Studio?

Due to Microsoft limitations, the .Net Assemblies cannot be referenced in Report Builder.

Recommended solutions for Linear/1D barcode types in Report Builder:

Option 1:
Use Visual Studio instead of Report Builder.

Option 2:
Product: Code 128 Font Package Transact-SQL (TSQL) Barcode Font Formulas*(Developer License or greater).
Implementation: TSQL Font Formula Tutorial.

Option 3:
Product: ASPX Barcode Generator Script.
Implementation: Streaming Barcode Images in Microsoft Report Builder.

*Demo only available for Code 39 as a proof of concept. For other symbologies, a purchase is required (which comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee).

Note: For 2D barcode types (such as DataMatrix, QR Code, PDF417, MaxiCode, and Aztec), the current alternative is Option 1.
