DataMatrix Codes incorrectly Generated in Excel using COM

I am trying to encode the following data (in cell A3) as a Type 9 Datamatrix
JGB 311100000000000001BS11DB9Z 0HP11SH
I have set the barcode cell to (Font is IDAutomation2D XLS, size 8)
=EncDM(A3,0,1,9)
(Note - The Excel file has the Bas file loaded and the reference set)
When I scan the generated Datamatrix code I get the following
JGB 311100000000000001BS11DB9Z 0HP11SH GRJHR2PW5C#Y6cD0UKGBRPGYYM1I38R8FU N5KUEP
If I use the standalone application that came with the suite the same data generates the barcode correctly
Note: I am using the same scanner both times (I have also tried some Phone apps that achieve the same outcome)
The scanner output I get from the standalone barcode app follows:
JGB 311100000000000001BS11DB9Z 0HP11SH
Can anyone tell me where I have gone wrong, please?

Operating System: Windows 10

Application: Excel (64Bit)

Try to encode the data directly as a process of elimination. For example, try:
=EncDM("JGB 311100000000000001BS11DB9Z 0HP11SH")
and see if that works. If it does, the problem is not the encoder, but something in the formula.

In the Data Matrix Font and Encoder, the EncDM function uses ActiveX and is considered legacy. The latest version uses pure VBA code that will also work better in Excel and Mac. That function is:
IDAutomation_DMatrix_FontEncoder(DataToEncode As String, Optional ApplyTilde As Integer = 1, Optional EncodingMode As Integer = 3, Optional preferredFormat As Integer = -1, Optional NewLineCharacter As String = vbCrLf)
To obtain the latest version, purchase Level 2 Support.
