Trying to get a Data Matrix symbol of 18 x 18

I'm using the Data Matrix Image Generator and Im trying to make a symbol of 18 x 18 but none of the combinations will let me. My version says 2013. C40 encode mode only gives me 26x26. I don't understand what the Pref. Format does. It doesn't really seem to affect the Curr. Format.

Try reducing the amount of data encoded. In C40 mode you should encode only uppercase letters and numbers. The 2020 version of the Data Matrix Image Generator, available now, encodes C40 more efficiently. With this new version, 24 uppercase letters, spaces, and numbers can be encoded in 18x18 size using the C40 mode. Additionally, 24 lowercase letters and spaces can be encoded in Text mode.
