How to use QR-Font code in Linux with existing QR-2D Class

We purchased QR-Code Font and Encoder Suite (1 Developer) license to test QR code. While trying to follow the installation process on Linux, I see that we already have Fonts and class files installed which we purchased with IDAutomation 2D Universal Barcode Font and Encoder Suite. What I observed is the IDAutomation 2D barcode font in both products is different. So now I am confused about how to proceed with the setup on Linux. Shall I replace the current 2D font with QR-Code 2D font as well as the libraries with the ones that came with QR-Code ZIP file?

Operating System: Redhat Linux 7.9

Application: Oracle JD Edwards

Based on the screenshot, the Java class encoder is not being used in the Linux solution. Verify the Java encoder class is functional on Linux as it is in Windows.

These are the 2 outputs. One has the QR Code and another puts junk characters (on Linux.

Hi Brant,

We did not make any changes to the font installation on Linux. It was the same 2D fonts since 2016 which are working for 2D Barcodes, DataMatrix just not for QR-Code. Do we need any other class files or add anything to xdo.cfg for QR-Code?

Thanks,
Swadhin

Fonts work very differently on Linux than they do on Windows. On the Linux instance, go through the installation procedure step by step to determine what part of the installation is not working. Then, use a process of elimination to find the issue. Make note of any errors that occur.

Now we are seeing a new issue. We developed the report with a QR code and it works on the Windows machine. However, when we deploy the same to our Linux instance it is not working. The same fonts have been installed on Linux since 2016 and all 2D Barcodes are working fine but not the QR-Code. Any help on this is appreciated.

Thanks,
Swadhin

Because our products are developer components, there are no license keys or other types of activation required.

Thank you for the clarification.

Do we need to have any license key to enter on the development client to generate the labels?

Thanks,
Swadhin

Both of these fonts will work in your environment. The latest one includes support for DotCode, that is the only difference. DotCode is rare so if I were you I would leave the existing font installed.

Attached are the fonts that we got from 2 different purchases on 2D Automation. One for IDAutomation 2D Universal Barcode Font and Encoder Suite (Developer License) of size 37KB and QR-Code Font and Encoder Suite (1 Developer) as 41 KB size. Both outputs are different. I am attaching them both for clarity. Not sure which 2D font will be used for QR codes and which for 2D barcodes since both the fonts have the same name. I am confused if something working will be broken if we replace one with the other.

We are not aware of a QR-Code 2D font that will work with our encoders except the IDAutomation2D Universal Font. If you are using encoders from IDAutomation then you should use the IDAutomation2D font. Font installation on Linux is complex. For that, refer to the Linux Font Install Procedures.

Dear Support,

Both the font sizes are different between IDAutomation 2D Universal Barcode Font and QR-Code 2D. Which one to use? Also what we are seeing is that QR-Font that we are using as per your suggestion is working on the Windows development client but when we move them to the Linux server for the JDEdwards application it is not working (For exists and referred to in code).

Any suggestions?

Regards,
Swadhin

If you already have the 2D font installed it is not necessary to install the newer version.
