Unhandled win32 exception occurred in crw32.exe when using Crystal Reports UFL

Last year I purchased a developer license for IDAutomation QRCode Windows Font encoder. I am trying to generate a QRCode in Crystal Reports 10 and I am getting an application error. I read all that I found related to this issue. In several places, the u25IDAutomation.dll is mentioned but that file was not created when I installed the product. What do I need to get that file?

The u25IDAutomation.dll is not actually needed with the QRCode font package, it is only used with our linear barcode fonts like Code 128, Code 39, and so on...

All the necessary files are copied to the system when the installation file is run.

The files that are installed are as follows:

The CRUFL_IDAutomationQR.dll, located at C:WindowsSystem32, is the file that is actually called by crystal formula. On a 64-bit machine, it will be located in the C:WindowsSysWOW64 directory.

The files idautomation.qrcode.dll, IDAutomation_QRCode.dll, and IDAutomation_QRCode.tlb, are located in the C:Windows directory, and are used by the CRUFL_IDAutomationQR.dll file. These files are what actually contain the QRCode algorithms, and supply the encoded data.

The IDAutomation_QR-Code_COM_Interop_Register.bat file is then run by the installer to register these files with Windows.

Follow the below procedure to resolve this issue:

Go to the Windows System Properties.
For Microsoft Windows XP or Microsoft Windows Server 2003, right-click on My Computer and select Properties.
For Microsoft Windows Vista, right-click Computer and select Properties. Then select Advanced System settings.
Select the Advanced tab.
Click the Settings button in the Performance area.
Select the Data Execution Prevention tab.
Select the "Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services" option and click OK.
Reboot the computer.
