How do you control the number of Unique Users ?

Dear Sir/Madam,

I would like to know how you control the number of Unique Users which is defined in the Software License Agreement (https://www.idautomation.com/licensing/software-license.html). For the library "QR Code Font and Encoder Suite"

Do you control by using ?
* IPs per week or
* The number of times which is used the library per week? If it was the way, considering that we are going to use the library in different internal applications which are in different platforms, do you consider the sum of times of all aplications or the number times of each application which must not exceed 10,000 or 20,000 times?

Our applications are developed in:
- Oracle Reports
- Power Builder 8.0.4
- .NET Framework 1.1
- Visual Basic
- Java

Thank you for you help so that we could define which sort of license we could buy.

Best regards,

Omar Rosales

The QR Code is Framework 2.0 and up. Some of the other related Forms Control components (Linear) may still work on 1.1 but QR Code is now 2.0 and up.

I apologize for the delay. The Java Component is compiled with 1.4. You will receive new files and it does not require a key.

Thank you for your answers.

When we buy the library, we receive a new library to be installed or we receive a key?

Is the library in Java compiled in JDK 1.4?

Thank you in advance for your help.

We have proved the library with a 2.0 project and it worked; however, our application was developed with a previous version ( .NET Framework 1.1 ).

The library works with application from 2.0 version onward, doesn't it?

As a test, see if you can reference the assembly in a 2.0 project.

Thank you for your answer,
we tested the trial library with our applications so that we could make sure that we will not have problems prior buying it. Most of our applications did not have problems; however, we have had a problem with a particular application which is developed in .NET with the Framework 1.1.

I am attaching the error. Could you tell us, wheter is a problem of the library or the application ? According to the message in the error.

I hope you could help us so that we could make the final decision,

Regards,

Omar Rosales

Hello, and thanks for writing. We do not specifically track the number of unique users a given license holder has for a given product. We expect and encourage our customers to keep track and control the users themselves. The total users would be the total number of people who are making use of the product across all of those different applications to generate, display or print barcodes as a part of a report or other item. Based on the environments you are looking at working in, you'll need to go with the Developer License version at least, which allows up to 10,000 total users / distributions.
