Error adding CRI linear barcode

2019 Update: IDAutomation now offers the (SSRS Native Barcode Generator) which stays embedded in the report and runs locally without the need for the CRI, which has been discontinued.

Hi,
I have installed the demo of Reporting Services CRI. Adding the CRI to the BIDS 2008R2 works, but when I want to add the CRI to a report I get the following error in the report field:
The custom report item type LinearBarcode is not installed.
I have checked all dlls and they contain the code like mentioned in the user manual.
Any ideas?
Thanks

It looks like I found the problem, both the rsreportserver.config and the RSReportDesigner.config files have the code in the incorrect place. The code is currently before the <Extensions> tag.
Move the code to the </Extensions> tag and this will correct the problem.

No, the CRI should work in a 64-bit environment.

The error you are describing is caused by the RSReportDesigner.config file. The most common mistake is placing the code in the wrong place, like before the <Extensions> tag and not the </Extensions> tag.

If you like I can take a look at the config files, you can send them to admin@idautomation.com

I it possible that the issue occurs because I am working in a 64-bit environment?

Kind regards

This problem is usually caused by one of the config files, most likely this one.
C:Program FilesMicrosoft Visual Studio 9.0Common7IDEPrivateAssembliesRSReportDesigner.config

Make sure it matches what is described in the Manual Barcode CRI Installation section on this page.
