How To Hide A Component In SSRS

I am trying to conditionally hide the barcode image I've embedded into my SSRS report. If I set the Hidden property to either True or False, the report runs error-free. However, if I use the below expression, I get an error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object".

Expression:
=IIF(((First(Fields!code.Value, "DataSet") = 1) OR (First(Fields!code.Value, "DataSet") = 3)), False , True)

Error:
image

Basically, I have a "code" field, and if it is 1 or 3, I want the barcode to display. Otherwise, I want it suppressed. I am using the exact same formula on text box objects on the same report, and they work fine if I remove this from the barcode.

Does the barcode not allow for hiding based on an expression? Any workarounds?

FYI this is the product I am using, the 2008 version:

Thanks.

Operating System: Windows Server

Application: SSRS, MS SQL Reporting Services

Try putting the object in a container or other component, then setting that container or component's Hide property.
