Resolved Questions

SSRS Error Could not find file 'AppData/LocalTemp/*.dll'.

Note: A new product (SSRS Native Barcode Generator) has been released since this post was resolved that offers an easy method of generating barcodes in SSRS without DLLs or other components.

Has anyone experienced this error when running a report using any of your Reporting Services solutions? The report (2 pages) is printed thousands of times (about 14k in this run) and the Report Server starts to go “funky” after a while.

The server starts “losing” random files and every time you refresh, it can’t find a different file.

EXAMPLE:

Here’s an example of the error:
Could not find file 'C:/Users/DHSSQL10ADMIN/AppData/LocalTemp/ogvvmne2.dll'.

Then I refresh, I get:
Could not find file 'C:/Users/DHSSQL10ADMIN/AppData/LocalTemp/t0-n_dfr.dll'.

…and continues with a different file every time I refresh the IE Browser.

Operating System: Windows

Application: SSRS/Reporting Services

Best Answer

There are a few reasons this may occur when running SSRS solutions:

(1) Restart the server or restart reporting service.

(2) Modify the account to local admin account and grant full access to the folder “'C:Users AppDataLocalTemp”.

(3) Is there any anti-virus running on the server? If so, disable it from scanning the “'C: Users AppDataLocalTemp” folder. If you turn on UAC, disable it too.
