Can a label/caption be added to PDF417 barcodes?

I am using the code creator template for hosted bar codes and would like to include
the “datatoencode” as a caption below the barcode. I added the CB parameter,
but no caption is being generated. Below is a code snippet showing the modified
bcgenimg string (CB parm added to the end). What am I missing?

James	Best Answer This option is not available for 2D barcode products IDAutomation makes, due to the large data capacity. The solution is to place a field underneath equal to the data string being encoded. IDAutomation gives the option for a client to purchase an Unlimited Developer's License (with a signed source code agreement) on a product so they may customize the source code to their needs. Your statement is not true for my application. You are limiting the functionality that should be in the control of your customer. Not to mention that it is listed as a property for all symbologies. I would like to formally request that this be changed. Please advise how I would submit a change request.

Since PDF417 is a 2D barcode, it can hold a lot of data, which makes it impractical to allow for a Caption Below option to be implemented, as in 1D barcodes, which have much less information stored in them.

Although Caption Below(CB) is listed in the General Barcode Properties for all Symbologies Table, it is not a valid argument for PDF417.

The solution is to place a field underneath equal to the data string being encoded.
