SecurityException: System.Web.AspNetHostingPermission


We've been using your IDAutomation Linear + 2D Barcode ActiveX Control for several years now, but suddenly it is producing the error:

[SecurityException: Request for the permission of type 'System.Web.AspNetHostingPermission, System, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed.]

What steps should I take to correct this? Thanks, Russ

Thanks, Brant.

Going to the properties of each file supplied with your product and unblocking the security message (at the bottom of the window): "This file came from another computer and might be blocked to help protect this computer." worked. The only other step after clearing that message on each file was to Recycle the IIS app pools they are accessed from.

This error does not appear to be from the DLL itself. It is reported to be an issue when you use a virtual directory that points to a remote share to host a Microsoft ASP.NET-based application. For the fix refer to the Microsoft System.Security.SecurityException Blog.

Additional solutions include changing the App pool identity to NetworkService / Aspnet and enabling Load User Profile on the app pool in IIS.
