How to test GS1 data check digits through GS1.org


I have UPC values 012345678901 and 012345678902. When I create UPCa, both of the barcodes scan the same. It is not correct. What is wrong?

UPCa handles 11 digits and creates a 12th digit (the check digit).

If we consider the first 11 digits as valid data, then both values are identical.

01234567890 (1 is not included)
01234567890 (2 is not included)

In this case, 01234567890 creates a check digit 5.

To verify this solution, visit the GS1.org and use its check digit calculator tool.

The solution in this post uses the UPC/EAN Fonts with IDAutomation VBA (Free Font Encoder) in Excel.
