Installed Barcode Addin for Word & Excel and Want to Use a Specific Code 128 Subset (A, B, or C)

We have been using the Barcode Addin for Word & Excel for a while and love the easy conversion to barcodes it performs using many barcode fonts. In this case, we need to produce a barcode that is a subset of Code 128, per client specifications.

Is it possible to use the already-installed Addin, or do we have to install the VBA Font Encoder?

Operating System: Windows

Application: Microsoft Excel

IDAutomation Code 128 Barcode Fonts can produce subsets A,B,and C. The Add-In's default function 'Code 128' automatically encodes the correct subset based on the data- this is the ideal situation.

Since the Barcode Addin for Word & Excel is already installed, it is not necessary to use the VBA. For this post, it will be assumed that Code 128 subset C will be produced.

To force subset C (without the human-readable numbers below the barcode), perform the actions in the red-highlighted sections below from an empty cell:

1. Apply the correct function:

Which encodes the data in E1:

2. Apply the Code 128 font to the same field (IDAutomationC128M font used in this example- the 'M' stands for 'Medium Height'):

3. A valid Code128c barcode is produced:

Note: To produce a Code 128 subset C barcode with the human-readable numbers below the barcode, simply manually install the font(s) in the product download's 'Human Readable Set C' folder (font names begin with IDAutomationHcC128), save all work in Excel, restart Excel so it will register the font, and apply the IDAutomationHcC128 font to the field as in Step 2 above.
