1. How to Scan a barcode into an application?
Handheld barcode scanners can scan barcodes into almost any application. Ensure the cursor is present in the desired application.

3. A scanner is connected (through USB or Wireless) and beeps, but there is no output in the application.

Review a few solutions that may resolve the issue:

• Ensure the cursor is in the desired application.
• Disconnect the scanner and try a different USB port.
• Reboot the computer.
• Disconnect the scanner cord from the base of the scanner and then reconnect it).
• Reinstall the USB drivers.

5. Barcode Scanner will not read the barcode


There are several reasons a barcode scanner will not scan the barcode:

• Barcode is too small
• Barcode is not properly generated (distorted/damaged).
Data is not encoded for the barcode (if using a barcode font).
• Barcode font size does not meet requirements.
• Barcode is too large (contains too many characters) for the scanner laser. Common with Code 39
barcodes that include too much data.

6. Barcode Scanner will not scan barcodes with less than 4 characters.


Many scanners have a default minimum data amount that they can scan. Review the scanner manual to ensure the scanner is set to the minimum amount of data to read. IDAutomation recommends setting the scanner to read a minimum of one character barcode.
