How to Generate Smaller QR CODES in Crystal Reports


Is there a way to make QR codes smaller I have the QR Code Native Barcode Generator for Crystal Reports and my clients demand that the code be smaller for printing, but I can't scan it if I make it the size they want. Any tips?

Below are some options that may be used to generate a smaller QR Code:

Check the Font Size:
Thank you for reaching out, there are a couple of options to get the QR Code smaller and still scannable. You may review step 10 of the Native Generator for Crystal Reports, where it illustrates editing the font point size.

Try the IDAutomation2D S Font:
If you need to make the QR Code Smaller than the point size permits, download the Universal 2D Barcode Font Suite Download (idautomation.com) by choosing the red “Download” button and install the “IDAutomation2D S” font from the package. After installation, select the “IDAutomation2D S” font instead of Courier New or Consolas to generate the symbols. When using the IDAutomation2D S font, the result will be about 1/2 the size of the system font.

Check the Parameters:
Changing the error correction to "2" can usually create a smaller symbol. If the data being encoded includes many sequential numbers and uppercase characters, make sure QR Code Auto Encoding Mode is enabled.

Additionally, if it is less than 35 numeric characters you need to encode into the barcode, you may want to explore Micro QR Codes.
