How to generate a Data Matrix barcode using the Native Generator for Crystal Reports?


Need to generate Data Matrix barcodes in Crystal using the IDAutomation Native Crystal Reports Generator.

This post explains how to generate a Data Matrix barcode using the Native Barcode Generator for Crystal Reports (Linear + 2D Package). Because the demo version produces a static barcode, the post assumes the user is working with the licensed version.

1. Download the product.

2. Right-click the zip and select Extract All.

3. If you are using the Linear + 2D version, open the folder named IDAutomation_2DCrystalNativeBarcodeGenerator. If you are using the stand-alone Data Matrix Native Package, access the appropriate folder.

4. Open the report named IDAutomation Native - DataMatrix.

5. In the sample report, there should be an object in the Details section of the report.

6. Right-click the object and choose Copy.

7. In your own report, right-click and select paste. This will paste the Data Matrix object and all code from the sample file into your own Crystal Report.

8. Right-click the object and select Edit Formula.

9. In the formula editor, verify the Syntax is set to Basic Syntax.

10. To edit or set the data, modify the DataToEncode =

Here is an example using static data.

DataToEncode = "Hi, How are you?"

After setting the data, select Save and Close. Preview the report.
