I am looking to up upgrade our Video Jet BX6600 printer's software in order to generate QR Codes.

They suggested purchasing a font package from ID Automation. Needing info on what package I need. I see you have several different options and I need someone to point me in the correct direction.

James	Best Answer Unlike fonts such as Times New Roman, Arial, and Courier New, barcode fonts require an extra step to ensure that the created barcode is scannable/usable. In order to create a scannable barcode, data must pass through something called a font encoder or font tool. IDAutomation provides many FREE TOOLS that will allow you to encode data in several applications and environments including Excel, Crystal Reports, Access, FileMaker, Visual Studio, and Java. The next thing to determine is which font encoder or font tool you would use to encode the data before the QR Code font is used. This decision is based on the software you have available. how does the QR-Code Font and Encoder Package work? Let me expand. If I purchase the package and download it, does it show up as FONT selection, in the same way that Times New Roman or Calibri would, or does it require generating, cutting pasting, and saving each individual code?

Since IDAutomation does not deal directly with printers, the printer's documentation would need to be reviewed in determining the font types to be used.

The QR-Code Font and Encoder Package contains multiple font formats such as TrueType, OpenType, PostScript, and PCL 5 Laserjet.

Data to be turned into a barcode requires encoding before the font is applied to the encoded data. Depending on the package type selected, there are multiple components and encoders included in the purchase.
