MICR E13B font and secure fonts appear compressed when printed in SQL Report Viewer.

I'm using 64-bit Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2. I developed a report in BIDS for printing checks using the TrueType MICR font and when I print the report the output is very good. I published the report to Reporting Services and the same fonts are installed on the server as well. I run the report in the Reporting Services report viewer and the fonts appear correct on the screen. I then print and the MICR font and secure font lose their spacing.

I'm printing to the same printer and from the same machine I developed the report for in BIDS. So somewhere something is going wrong with the step for the Report Viewer and how it's printing. The workstation I'm using is Windows 7 64-bit and the printer is an HP P4015x. I've tried it on different computers and printers with the same results.

Any suggestions for getting this to print correctly through the Report Viewer?

Regretfully, we are not able to troubleshoot the process of how the font is displayed between Report Viewer and the printing process. However, at some point in the process, there is manipulation. Since we cannot directly support Viewers and fonts embedded into documents, you could try contacting the vendor to find out if there is a patch or a solution to the issue. I know a similar issue occurs within Crystal Reports when fonts are converted to PDF.

For additional information, we do have a couple of things that you can check. Review the article Banks Reject MICR.
