GS1-128 in Oracle Reports 6i (Part 2)

I'm referencing my previous question, as you already closed it: GS1-128 in Oracle Reports 6i

You altered your answer afterward and changed the specific text in your Oracle Reports Barcode Tutorial & FAQ. Now it states "IDAutomation_Universal.pll is compatible with 10g and above". 9i isn't supported anymore...

So now I'm confused if I can use the IDAutomation_Universal.pll (from the Universal Barcode Font Advantage Package) with Oracle Reports 6i for generating GS1-128 barcodes? May I get a short and clear answer to this question? Thank you.

Operating System: Windows 10

Application: Oracle Reports 6i

Sorry for the confusion. Technically, The IDAutomation.pll was developed and tested against Reports 6i, and the IDAutomation_Universal.pll is compatible with 10g and above. If used in the database itself, the version of the database would be any version that supports PL/SQL. PL/SQL source code is also provided for advanced Oracle developers in the IDAutomation.pkg file. All of this is provided in the Oracle Reports Barcode PL/SQL Library which is in the Developer Tools ZIP file download, provided with any Developer License purchase. I recommend the GS1-128 Font Package with the IDAutomation_Universal.pll for 10g and above. However, to support everything below 10g, you would have to use the Code 128 Fonts with the IDAutomation.pll file.

In that case, the Java Barcode Package would be the best solution for you since it supports the ApplyTilde and supports 9i and greater.

Outside of the USA, my database uses a different character set where ASCII 202 doesn't represent the character Ê. So I can not use the older pll for encoding FNC1. And the universal pll does not work with reports 6i. Any alternatives?

Yes, you can generate a GS1-128 barcode encoding an FNC1 function by using any pll. The older pll encodes the FNC1 with the ASCII 202 character Ê.

Thank you for the clarification.
So in conclusion I can't generate a GS1-128 barcode encoding a FNC1 function by using any pll you provide as long as I stick to Oracle Reports 6i. Am I right?

Does the IDAutomation.pkg provide a Code128 function with the ApplyTilde parameter?
