Resolved Questions

Too many stop codes

I am trying to get a barcode correct for a customer.
I have this for parameters - code 128, auto tilde on
This is my text-
~2120105708932511957~21217120700~21210U071201~21293001

This is my customer's comments
“There also appears to be a couple of extra Function 1 stops programmed into the barcode. The first is after the GTIN and before the (17) AI, and the second is after the Exp date and before the (10) AI. Function 1 stops aren’t needed here because both the GTIN and Exp date formats are for a fixed number of characters.”

I don’t see where there are extra characters for stops. How can I fix this?

Create the human-readable manually that will contain the parentheses.
(01)05708932511957(17)120700(10)U071201(93)001

As for your value to encode, remove the ~029.

I tried the new code and had my customer check it again only to get this response:
The UCC/EAN-128 barcode doesn’t read beyond part way through the GTIN where there’s a Function 1, (FNC1), stop in the programming. The application identifiers with the parentheses should be there, i.e. (17), (10), (93), and somehow there are extra FNC1 stops that need to be removed. Only the place after the last lot number and before the (93) should have the stop. This barcode should also probably go up to the next x-dim or there will likely be the same scan problem as on the EAN13 once we get this programmed correctly.

Any ideas?
I don't see how to lengthen the code other that changed the X bar width. I am printing this on a laser printer. Is the printer part of the problem?

For fixed-length fields, you can encode the AIs using ~029 (the GS or Group Separator). Please view the Forum Post that discusses the issue at:

Your data would be
