HIBC QR


We have a request from a client and know your various barcode fonts, applications, and barcode components that can produce many types of barcodes.

I have the following general questions:
• How do we make HIBC QR codes?
• Our use of HIBC requires a Mod43 check digit. How do we calculate it?

1. Our software can produce HIBC QR by entering the data formatted to HIBC specifications (refer to your HIBC documentation for the formatting rules).

Based on HIBC's documented HIBC QR (Figure C5 on page 23) I was able to replicate (determined by scan and visual comparison) the barcode using the following settings:
• Data: +H123ABC01234567890D
• Encoding Mode: Alphanumeric
• Version: Auto
• Error Correction: M

2. Apart from our Code 39 products, it will be necessary to calculate the Mod43 check digit manually, as explained in the MOD43 Check Character Calculation Examples and calculated in this post.
