Verification of Crystal Reports integration instructions.

There is a 9 year old set of instructions on integrating the IDAutomation product with Crystal Reports. I understood everything until the end. It stated:The "QR Code font is named IDAutomation2D". The initial part of the instructions has to do with copying, pasting, and modifying a ID Automation object. Does the last instruction mean that after all that, "IDAutmation2D" will suddenly appear as a Crystal Reports font for me? So from then on, I can just format a field with an "IDAutomation2D" font?

Operating System: Windows 11 64-bit

Application: Crystal Reports 2020 SP 4

Hello PolyCarbBoy,

Yes, by following the tutorial the font will be installed on your machine and accessible in Crystal Reports.

"4. To install the Font (IDAutomation2D) and encoders, double-click the IDAutomation_QRCodeFontEncoder.exe and run through the installation process."

In order to generate a QR Code, the data must first be encoded before the font can render a barcode. We provide a Crystal Reports Formula.rpt that contains an editable QR-Code object, you may copy that object and place it as needed in your reports. Preview to view the full barcode. To edit the encoded data refer to step 6 of the tutorial mentioned previously.

To encode multiple fields in a QR Code you'll need to edit the formula and properly concatenate your fields within the 'DataToEncode = ' section. But the font alone can not create a barcode, there needs to be a formula or encoder to encode the data before the font can work.

I hope this information has been helpful, let me know if you have any further questions.

I am new to this forum but not forums in general. I do not understand why I apparently cannot directly respond to Jacque's answer. Regardless, I am trying to understand if installing this product will result in a font called "IDAutomation2D" appearing as a choice in my Crystal Reports, allowing me to format fields in my report with the "IDAutomation2D" font, resulting in a QR code that will cause the value of my field being transmitted by my scanner gun once it scans that QR code.

Hello PolyCarbBoy,

At the end of the How to Create QR Codes in Crystal Reports tutorial, we include the last few bullet points as additional notes. Specifically the IDAutomation2D font note, is in the event that the barcode only displays the encoded letters, you may have to apply the font to the text so it can finalize the generation of the barcode.

I hope this information has been helpful, let me know if you have any further questions.
