EAN 13 Barcode Font First Digit Smaller

Our company purchased the IDAutomation UPC/EAN Barcode Font Package (we are generating EAN-13 Barcodes). My customer is complaining that the first character is smaller than the rest of the numbers.

An example of a barcode's encoded data that is being generated is Y(0E69BB*KQNSRR(.

Is there a way to make all the numbers the same size? The barcode is printing and scanning just fine other than the fact that the first charter is smaller.

James	Best Answer As seen below, the EAN13 barcode's leading digit is (by design) different than the rest of the human-readable text to distinguish it (there is no way to change this): Another option is to use the UPC/EAN font that has an 'n' at the end of the name, as described on the User Manual: Fonts that exclude the normal human-readable characters are provided in this package to support the printing of the human-readable variation according to ISO/IEC 15420 2000 Figure E.3. With this type of implementation, the digit "N" located at character "Z" may be used with the font names ending with the letter "n." Additionally, a separate custom field must be placed below the symbol according to the specification. The human-readable variation should only be used when required.
