We have been unable to duplicate the problem. Please contact SAP to see if there is a setting in the report or VB code we can use to treat the code as English. It is also possible that a newer version or update to Crystal would resolve the issue.

We now understand that the issue occurs in Crystal when the workstation settings are for Chinese. We are going to have a developer take a look at this to figure out why. Hopefully, we will have a solution in a few days.

Refer to the image generated in this incident:
https://support.idautomation.com/Barcode-Applications/Crystal-report-UTF8-ERROR/_3645
If you generate the same image with your Crystal reports everything is working as it is supposed to.

Download the Scanner Decoder app:
https://www.idautomation.com/apps/barcode-decoder-verifier/
and test scanning with that. If that works the problem is with the other scanner app you are using.
