Resolved Questions

After installing the Barcode Fonts and the Excel Barcode Add In, I do not see the Add Ins tab.

I followed the instructions step-by-step at: https://www.idautomation.com/font-encoders/word-excel-addin/

I exited all MS Office applications, all applications, and browsers.

I made sure that I installed the IDAutomation Barcode font. I have verified that it is in my fonts directory and selectable from within the application. I have also installed the Barcode Add-In for the appropriate version of my operating system and the version of Microsoft Office.

We have re-installed the font and the Add-In but it is still not visible.

Alternate Product Solution
A new product (Native Barcode Generator for Excel) has been released since this post was resolved that offers an easier method of generating barcodes in Excel.

Solution to the original question:
We are currently in the process of phasing out the Barcode Add-In for Excel for Windows. If running Excel for Mac, the Add-In is still functional. To generate barcodes in Excel, use the VBA solution:

To create barcodes using a font, two components are required:
(1) Barcode Font
(2) Font Encoder

A font encoder is a component that takes the data that will be converted to a barcode and formats it into another form of data that the barcode font can understand.

If the Add-In is not visible in Excel or Word, verify:

(1) IDAutomation Barcode Fonts are installed. The Add-In will not display unless IDAutomation Fonts are installed.

(2) Excel and Word (Microsoft Office) are not running when the Add-In and IDAutomation Barcode Fonts are installed.

(3) Enable Add-Ins through Trust Center

If none of the solutions resolve the issue, encode the data using the IDAutomationVBA (for Linear barcodes). For 2D barcodes, VBA encoders are supplied within the package.

If you are creating Linear barcodes, use the VBA Solution

If you are creating 2D barcodes, then the process is slightly different. You will need to import the VBA file that is included in the particular 2D Font package that you downloaded.

The VBA files for 2D barcodes are located in the product package.

For example, the Data Matrix package contains a VBA file named: image
