Resolved Questions

When Apply Tilde is not implemented, how do I encode the FNC for Code 128?

I need to encode data for IMpb (using Code 128). I am using your Visual Fox Pro encoder but there is no option for ApplyTilde. In other products, I understand that you can enable ApplyTilde and then encode AIs for variable-length data by placing ~212, ~213, ...,~217 before it.

Example:

~212011234567

I even know some encoders and products have the ability to use the parenthesis instead of the ~212.

Example:

(01)1234567

ApplyTilde (referred to as Apply Tilde or Process Tilde) is an option implemented by IDAutomation that allows the user to encode functions for Code 128 and Code 128 standards, such as IMpb, GS1-128, and SSCC18.

IDAutomation has ApplyTilde implemented in its applications, components, and many font encoders that are Feature Level 5 and above. However, there are a few font encoders that do not have ApplyTilde; therefore, another method must be implemented. Font tools recognized as Feature Level 4 can encode AIs with the Ê character. To create the character, from the numeric keypad, hold down Alt and enter 0202.

If the user's only option to create the FNC for Code 128 is a Feature Level 4 font encoder, place the Ê before each AI.

AI: 8101

Example using Feature Level 4 to encode FNC for AI with Ê:
Ê81010123450901

Example using ~202 with ApplyTilde enabled:
~20281010123450901

Example using ~21X with ApplyTilde enabled:
~21481010123450901

Example using parentheses with ApplyTilde enabled:

(8101)0123450901

All three examples will identify 8101 as the FNC/AI.
