I cannot get the correct label size set.

I have a Brother printer that has a 6 x 4 label. How can I make the barcode label software give me that size? I have gone thru setting the printer and retrieving the size but it only displays the 4 x 4 area. I cannot get the correct label size set.

Operating System: xp

The software is not limited to anything but what is set as the printer's general or custom default. I have quite a bit of experience dealing with customers that have had this issue. The Label Software is only going to display the printer's settings. Until the issue within the printer's settings is corrected, you may not see the size option you seek. The printer may be 6x4, but if you only see a 4x4 option within the software for that printer, then the printer settings through the control panel must be modified. A reboot may help.

Ben,
The printer actually has 6 x 4 as the default size but the IDAutomation software will not allow that size and is limited to a width of 4 inches for any option under any heading. Could it be possible to find out what could cause that?

If there is an issue with the paper type or it is not allowing you to set it to a certain height/width, then it is related to the actual printer's default settings. Review the forum post that discusses the issue.

When I choose custom there is no choice of letter size and when I uncheck the box and enter 6 x 4 and try to save it gives the message that it can't because the size in the paper type isn't 6 inches wide so it says it can't save it. When I pick a user-defined size it defaults to 4 x 6 and you cannot change the size in paper-type measurement boxes.

Of all the sizes listed the widest is 4 inches.

Why wouldn't I have letter size to choose from?

1. Following the steps given will produce a 4 x 6-inch label. If a 6 x 4 label is needed, then switching the values will produce the wanted label.

2. If a label has been created and a grey area is showing, you may follow the directions from this forum post.

I have tried those steps before and I will try them again. The label is 6 x 4 in printer properties and is actually 6 inches wide, could that cause an issue? On the custom screen, the grey area is 6' top to bottom but the grid only goes down 3.9 inches and only about 4 wide.
When you hold your mouse over the grey area you get the message that this area will be cropped (maybe not exact verbiage)
Thanks,

Here is an alternate way of creating a label 6 x 4 inches (substitute the printer being used):

The video steps do not work at all, no matter what the default paper size the printer has, which is 6x4 the custom size says 4x6, and when the label opens the grid size is 3.5 x 3.9 and I have even tried to leave borders at 0"
